Kellie Pickler was born on the 28th of June, 1986 to Cynthia Morton Pickler and Clyde Raymond Pickler at Stanly Memorial Hospital Albemarle. The time she was pregnant her mother was already 16 years old. This was an extremely difficult time for Pickler since her father was struggling with addiction issues for both alcohol and drugs when her mother separated from her at the age of two. Morton managed to get custody of Pickler for two years. However, Pickler acknowledged that not everything was going well. "I was cooking with my mother when I told her that I prefer not to die instead of staying in this place.' She pulled off a knife from the kitchen and placed it on the counter. She then said: "Here you go." It was fourth grade. It's unfortunate that I did not do something about it. The incident left an emotional mark that will last forever. Pickler was given her grandparents after she turned 12 years old. Morton failed to appear for the hearing. Pickler was brought up by her grandmothers throughout her entire life. She cites them as being the most influential individuals within her lifetime. The mother Faye Pickler died from lung cancer in January of 2002, and she was raised by the grandfather. Pickler was awarded her graduation diploma from the North Stanly in New London, North Carolina.
