The career of Swallow began at Broadway theatre, which she starred in various performances. This include High Fidelity and King Lear at the Guthrie Theater. Other shows include Much Ado About Nothing for Shakespeare in the Park. Also, off Broadway premieres Romantic Poetry and Measuring for Pleasure. Swallow started her career on film in 2008's military thriller The Lucky Ones. Swallow was in the world premiere of Donald Margulies' play The Country House in Los Angeles' Geffen Playhouse as well as in the role of Mark Rylance in Louis Jenkins the production Nice Fish at the Guthrie Theatre,[citation needed] and for John Patrick Shanley's musical Romantic Poetry at Manhattan Theater Club.
